With the events of 2020 causing many wedding plans to come to a halt, we are seeing lots of brides and stylists anxious to get back to the party. Wedding celebrations this winter have become considerably smaller, more intimate, and sometimes even broadcasted on live stream to include friends and family who are unable to join. Don’t worry, this hasn’t stopped the glam. Most of us have spent so much time at home in sweats that special events, zoom parties, and.. well, frankly any excuse to get a glammed up, is welcome. With hope of things returning to a new normal in 2021, summer and fall events are booking up fast.

We’ve all had a little more time to be creative this year, and bridal is no exception. Though the classic bride will always be in style, we are seeing a lot more adventure in bridal fashion; and 2021 dresses have been an amazing way for women to showcase their personal style without the traditional pressures. This season’s looks have brought lots of texture, new shape, color, styles and pattern to the table. Here are some of my favorite new trends:

Capes: Who doesn’t want to look like a superhero princess on their wedding day? A cape in place of a veil allows for a classic trained look with a modern spin. The best part- you don’t have to mess up your hair taking it on and off. As hairstylists, we can definitely appreciate that!

I think we’ve all been enjoying natural beauty this year. In bridal makeup we are seeing lots of clean, dewy, minimal looks- AKA, less is more. For your big day, feel like yourself but better. Tone down the false eyelashes and smokey eye. Instead go with a nice, glow and shades of pinks and natural tones.

Hairstyles are another way to show off your natural beauty. This year, I have had frequent requests for looks that are effortless and styled down or half up. If you have texture to your hair naturally, use it or enhance it! If you sweat a lot and can’t stand your hair on your neck, go with something soft, simple and a little less formal. Try a low bun or a twisted style, and dress it up with a fun hair accessory.
